Book Reviews: The Final Empire, Tress of the Emerald Sea, and Digital Minimalism

Yesterday, I completed “Mistborn: The Final Empire” by Brandon Sanderson. I found the book engaging and well-written, making it difficult to put down. I highly recommend the book. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series, “The Well of Ascension.”

Earlier this week, I also finished “Tress of the Emerald Sea” by the same author. While it was not quite as captivating as “Mistborn,” I would still highly recommend it. The writing style is more humorous, though it left several questions unanswered for a standalone book.

Last week, I read “Digital Minimalism” by Cal Newport. I was drawn to the book because of my interest in minimalism. The book explores the benefits of reducing digital technology use, particularly social media. Newport emphasizes that connections and interactions through social media are generally weaker than real-life interactions. As someone who does not use social media, I found those sections less relevant to me personally, but I agree with Newport’s perspective. I would recommend the book to individuals looking to manage their time better and improve their real-life social interactions, provided they are open to reducing their use of digital media.

To maintain variety in my reading, I have decided to take a break from Sanderson’s works. My next book will be “The Last Wish” by Andrzej Sapkowski, the first in the Witcher series.
